Mixed Media Vintage Shop

Hello!!! Yesterday I shared that I got some catching up to do with regards to my blog post. Here's what I have done for My Little Shoebox for December using Vintage Shop Collection.

"Love Is A Canvas" Card

I used Silhouette Cameo to cut out this card and the tree. Have I mentioned before that I love trees?? I think I did. Well, I outlined the card and the tree with a zig pen and added some banners at the bottom. I love this owl!!! Its so so cute!!! I added a small owl inside the card and through the "window", you can see that its like peeking through the tree.

For the clouds, I watercolored blue tint of color with Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pen and popped a few up with foam strip.

Here's the inside of the card. I added the journalling tag and adhered the small owl on top.

"Owls Handmade" Layout

For this layout, I used black cardstock to emphasise the night flea market pictures. I painted the background and edges with white acrylic paint. I love how simple this layout is being assembled together, with just a few strips of patterned papers. I printed My Little Shoebox digital designs (the 2 big bunch of flowers) at Silhouette as the mat for the title.

"Five Owls" Layout

This is my favourite layout for December. :) Its dedicated to my 4 close scrapbooking friends. Though there's no photos, each frame represents each of us. These white frames are made with Martha Stewart molds and clays. Five of us loved owls, hence calling ourselves owls. :)

To create the background, I stamped with Unity/MLS co-branded stamps, adhered some mini alpha stickers and misted with glimmer mists. Then I adhered the paper strips and laces, followed by the frames and flowers.

Recently I developed a love for pearls and swarovski crystals. So I added them into this layout too.

"Make & Take" Layout

For this layout, I adhered Muse Cardstock Alpha Stickers and paper clips with multi-medium and misted with glimmer mist. Then I added the mixture of textured paste, glass bead gel  and acrylic paints over a circles mask. A few layers of edge-punched patterned papers are added as background for the photos.
I used the same mixture of texture paste onto the Dusty Attic chipboard shapes and added swarovski crystals to them. I also popped up the title to make them stand out.

I hope you enjoy my projects today. Do drop by My Little Shoebox for more inspiration. And Frosted Designs' 12 Days Of Christmas Challenge is still ongoing till 31th December. And do drop by My 4th Blog Candy to win some goodies.

Thanks for stopping by. Have fun!! And a New Year to you all.

Some Catching Up!!

Hi, everyone. Hope you have a joyful Christmas and warm family bonding time.

I realise that I got some catching up to do. I haven't blog about my past 2 months My Little Shoebox assignments. Oh dear!!! Memory failing???? Maybe.. ha ha... So here's the catching up....

For November, I created a Chinese Lantern and a layout using Cherry Delight Collection.

"Cherry Lantern"

I really love this paper for this paper collection. Its the perfect paper for making this lantern. I love the contrasting colors, red and cream. It really bring out the flower shape. I also added the 3D Roll Up Flowers as the flower center. So its like a flower within a flower.

"Malacca" Layout

This layout was made to document our Church Camp trip at Malacca this June. I love the cardstock stickers and layered them with the 3D Roll Up Flowers too.

Well, I will share the December assignments tomorrow. Hope you are inspired by my projects. Have a fun week ahead.

Thanks for visiting.

On The 8th Day Of Christmas...

On the 8th Day of Christmas, my challenge at Frosted Designs' "12 Days Of Christmas Challenge" is to use 8 brands/products in your projects.

"Merry Xmas" Mini Album

This mini album was made with the following brands/products:
  • Simple Stories Patterned Papers
  • Burlap fabric and trim
  • American Crafts alpha thickers
  • Ranger (Tim Holtz) tissue paper
  • Ranger ice glitter and distress inks.

Besides this challenge, I also made this Christmas mini album for a Christmas Album Swap organised by my dear friend, Elaine. So, Michelle, my swap partner, this album is for you. :)

I loved burlap fabric and the white Christmas theme. For the cover, I used mixed media technique. I wanted a clean, simple look.

I made a pocket on the 1st page and kept the rest of the album simple with spaces for photos. I loved layering the strips of papers to make the Christmas trees. Christmas tree is one of my favourite icon. Well, I love trees!! Its always amazing to see how God made each and every trees unique. And its such a joy to look closely at different trees.

Another pocket was added here with 2 tags. I cut out part of the circles from patterned paper to make into a banner.

Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday Challenge - Buttons

Hello there!! How's your week?? Me busy as usual but something different is, I'm busy with coping with illness!!! First my mother-in-law was hospitalised (she's discharged and under medication now), then me fell sick with food poisoning (had to go same hospital where my mother-in-law is, to be put on saline and medicine drips)and today my hubby had fever and throat infection. Well, I prayed that everyone will get well soon. :)

This week at Frosted Designs, we are challenging you to use 5 buttons or more in your projects. And this week's sponsor is Creative Cuts & More. Do drop by to have a look at their wonderful products.

As Christmas is coming, I made a wreath with jute ribbon and buttons. But Christmas in Singapore is not white Christmas but a warm one. So I also made a simple card with a pale shade of spring colours. I love pastel colours.

I made the trim flower cluster with the flower trim, self-cut burlap leaves, feather and self-made pearl bead vines. Its such a simple touch to the wreath. I layered the buttons to give them dimension and interest.

For the card, I watercolored the wreath with a mixture of water and Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pens. Its easy to color images without much coloring skill with this method. Again I layered the buttons to make the card look less flat.

I hope you like my projects. Do join us at Frosted Designs for this week's challenge and stand to win a mini album kit.

Thanks for dropping by.

Prima Workshop with Anna Dabrowska in Singapore

Hi hi!! How are you?? I know I have not been frequent in my blogging. Very busy these few days. My mother-in-law was hospitalised in ICU with heart problem. So everyday is like going to and fro the hospital and home. But good thing that the hospital is just about 5 minutes walk away from home. She will be going for a procedure tomorrow morning to locate the blocked artery and to expand it. Pray that she will be healed. Any prayers are welcome.

Well, yesterday, after rushing back from hospital, I rushed to attend the Prima mixed media canvas workshop conducted by my favourite designer, Anna Dabrowska. I have always been a big fan of her. So I'm very excited that she's coming and I registered for her class the first day of registration!!!

Here's a picture of me with Anna Dabrowska:

And here's the canvas I created during the workshop:

I love this canvas and the techniques she used. Learned alot about light and shadow too. Cant share too much here as think not fair to those who attended the workshop (the fees is not cheap).

Here I did make a bit of mistake.  I misted too "hard" near the photo. You can see the small "splat" at the edge of photo. ha ha... think I need to touch up and add more stuff to cover that mistake up.

After attending this workshop, I want to create more. But for now, too busy and worried to do more stuff. So I hope I can create more canvas with same techniques soon, in case I forgot about it. :)

Well, I hope you are creating!!! Have fun!!

Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday Challenge - Color Challenge

Hi, everyone. This week at Frosted Designs, we are inviting you to join us for a color challenge. You can use this picture or color scheme for your projects.

And here's what I created:

"Live A Life Inspired" PDF Wood Board

I altered a PDF Wood Board from Daiso. Covered it with Tim Holtz tissue paper, added acrylic paints to it. Then I mixed fiber paste, glass bead gel and acrylic paint and spread over the Prima Donna Downey's peonies stencil. I used Liquitex and Daler Rowney acrylic inks for the "drips" and dabbed some white acrylic paints randomly over the board with my fingers.

For the peonies, I actually used pink acrylic paint for the fiber paste mixture. But I painted over them with red acrylic paint after the fiber paste mixture dried. Hence you might catch some pink under the red. I loved this kind of "layering". It made the peonies look more varied and alive.

I loved this lace. Bought it from a wedding accessory shop in Johore Bahru, Malaysia. Loved the transparency of this lace. You can still see the details below over the lace. (hmmm... am I making sense in my explanations??). The phrases are stamped with Unity/Donna Downey stamp and cut out and adhered with gel medium. Then dabbed over with acrylic paints and circled with black Daler Rowney acrylic ink.

Another view from the side. Loved the texture of this board.

I hope you are inspired by my project. Do join in the challenge over at Frosted Designs. Have a fun week. And do keep a lookout for Frosted Designs 12 Days Of Christmas Challenge next month.

Oh, I still owe a 4th Blog Candy for next 20 followers. I will try to post up as soon as possible.
Thanks for visiting my blog.

Frosted Designs Fall Blog Hop

Hello, friends. Its time for Frosted Designs Fall Blog Hop. You should have come from Channa's blog. If not, you can go back to Frosted Designs Blog for the master list.

For this blog hop challenge, you are supposed to hop to every designer's blog to "collect" the 12 themes and use at least 6 out of the 12 in your submission project. My theme is PUMPKIN. And here's what I created using 6 themes.

"Vintage Pumpkin" Card

The reason I chose the theme, Pumpkin, is it reminds me of Halloween and my birthday is on Halloween. ;) So this is like a birthday card to myself.

I used Silhouette Cameo to cut out the pumpkin shapes and glued them to make a card. I also use Cameo to cut the leaves and a Magnolia die for the swirls. I hand cut the stalk and added lace to it.

I rolled the felt strips and add them to the flowers. I also added glitter to the swirls. Love the vintage look.

I inked these leaves with distress inks and layered them.

I hope you like my card. Now that you collected all the 12 themes, please go back to Frosted Designs to submit your project and win a prize. Have fun.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

New Venture!!!

Hi, friends. How are you all doing?? I mentioned in my last post that I have a new venture going on that has kept me very very busy apart from my design team commitments. Well, today I'm going to share with you what's going on.

I'm teaming up with four dear friends to form a sort of "company" to sell our handmade craft products at fleas. Do visit our company blog, Owls Handmade. The first flea will be held at MAAD (Market of Artists And Designers), Red Dot Design Museum on 9 November 2012 from 5pm to midnight. There will also be make & take session where you learn to craft and take home the product for a small fee in a short time.

Its a new thing for us. We had tons of fun coming together for discussion, preparation, shopping, crafting and so on. We hope you will join us at our MAAD stall tomorrow evening at Red Dot Design Museum. See you.

Thanks for visiting my blog. Do drop by tomorrow as we at Frosted Designs are having a blog hop challenge over the weekend. Have fun.

My Little Shoebox and Epiphany Crafts

Hi, everyone. This week, My Little Shoebox has teamed up with Epiphany Crafts to bring you a week long of inspirations.

I used My Little Shoebox Vintage Shop collection to match the Shape Studio Tool Scalloped Circle 25.

I love the scalloped circle as its so versatile. I can used it as flower center, as badge and on its own.

"Vintage Owl" Notebook

I altered a notebook cover with MLS Vintage Shop paper and corrugated board. Painted the corrugated board with white acrylic paint, distressed the edges. Then I added a white lace in the middle.

I love the owl, cut out from MLS Vintage Shop paper. So I made it into the centerpiece. I layered 2 punched circles below and popped them up with foam strip. Then added the swarovski crystals to frame the owl scalloped circle bubble.  A Tattered Angel chipboard frame, with stickles applied, is added below with the Maya Road Scroll Framed Journalling Tag.

The top and bottom embellishments are done the same way. I also added 2 Maya Road flower to connect the three scalloped bubbles.

Supplies used: MLS Vintage Shop (Rose Ribbon, Heirloom), Keepsake (Garden Delight); Tattered Angel Chipboard Frame; Corrugated Board; Maya Road Kraft Scroll Frame Journalling Tag; lace; crystals; white acrylic paint; foam strip (Scrapbook Adhesives); Distress Inks.

I hope you are inspired to try out this fantastic tool from Epiphany Crafts. Don't forget to visit the Epiphany Crafts Blog to see what their talented designers have created today as well.

Have fun and thanks for dropping by.

Donna Downey "Altered Brush" Project

Hello, friends. Sorry for being missing in action. Been rushing alot of assignments lately. Phew!! Quite overwhelmed and swamped with projects to do. Plus a new venture with friends which I'm going to share later.

Today, I want to share an exciting project. Not sure any of you are aware of this "Altered Brush" Project by Donna Downey, one of my favourite designers. I always love her creations!! And I'm so honored to even be mentioned in her blog. Basically, this project by Donna Downey involved purchasing one of her brushes and altering and sending it back to be displayed in her studio. Can you imagine the excitement of my project on her studio wall??? AHHHH..... I'm so excited. Overexcited!!!! ha ha...

Without further ado, here's my altered brush:

I used this picture on Donna Downey's blog as its much clearer than mine. Got to admit I'm not a good photographer.

This is my favourite color palette. I painted the brush blue on top and pink at bottom. Then I used a sea sponge to sponge some white to the blue. Added a lace at brush area.

I love this flower paper from My Little Shoebox so I cut and curled them to make them look more dimensional. I added texture paste and acrylic paints to the chipboard frame. Added a acrylic sheet behind the chipboard frame and tinted it with blue stained glass (Tattered Angels).

For these pearls wires, I threaded them with jewery wires and twisted them together around the brush.

This is the back of the namecard. I used chalk ink over Crafter's Workshop stencil and added the swarovski crystals on them. Loved these shiny swarovski crystals that I got from my dear friend, Lina.

I hope you like my altered brush. Do drop by Donna Downey's blog to take a look at her creations too. Thanks for visiting.

My Little Shoebox & Want 2 Scrap Swap

Hi, everyone. We've teamed up with Want 2 Scrap to bring you some inspiration all this week with the collaboration of My Little Shoebox collections and products from Want 2 Scrap.

I'm so excited to share my project with you today. I loved the chipboard shapes and blings from Want 2 Scrap. They combine well with My Little Shoebox papers. Here's what I have created with them:

Inspired by my girl's ballet lesson, I made a hanging sign for her. I love this photo of her even though its not bright enough (lightings at her ballet classroom are quite dim). And well, she love pink. I love vintage. So I combined both using The Vintage Shop paper collection from My Little Shoebox.

For this sign, I covered the chipboard shape with MLS paper and glued it to an acrylic sheet. I pasted another paper behind the acrylic sheet. And I added the beautiful corner blings. Its perfect!! The acrylic sheet make this whole sign look less heavy on top.

Loved the corrugated board swirls from Want 2 Scrap. I used them to frame the photo of my girl. And I adhered the MLS rolled flower at the bottom to make it look like my girl is standing on it.

When I received this "body parts" chipboards, I had no idea how to use them. After attending my girl's ballet school open house that very night, I got inspired to make a ballerina. I used MLS paper for the top and the MLS trim for the skirt. I used Faber Castell Gelatoes to color the chipboards and added hair using brown cardstock. I loved it.

We hope you enjoy the designers projects that are featured today. We're also offering a chance for you to win some My Little Shoebox goodies for yourself.
