"You Make Life Bright" Card

Hi, friends. February is a month of celebration and love!!! First, there's Chinese New Year, followed by Valentine's Day. Here at Frosted Designs, we are challenging you to use the word "Love" + at least one Heart on your projects.

"Love" Tag

IMG_1189

For this tag, I used Sizzix, My Favourite Things dies and embossing folder. The Chevron ribbon is a gift from a dear friend.

So how do you plan to celebrate Valentine's Day?? For me, I planned with hubby to go to my current favourite tart shop, "Fruit Paradise" to eat their delicious tarts!!! Been craving for it for weeks!!!

Well, I hope you like my project. Will be quite busy for the next coming week as Chinese New Year is just next weekend. So I might disappear for a while. Busy busy visiting friends and relatives!!!

But let's not stop crafting!!! I hope to finish up one of my acrylic painting soon. Will update here once I get it done. Do join us at Frosted Designs for this fun challenge.

Fabulous Friday Challenge - Music

Hi, friends. Its time for Fabulous Friday Challenge at Frosted Designs. This week, we love to see you use Music on your projects.

"You Make My Heart Sing"

"You Make My Heart Sing" a

I made a 3D piano box using white cardstock. Valentine's Day is next month so I thought to make a gift box to put a "surprise" inside.  The tag was stamped with Prima and Crafty Secrets stamps and swaroski crystals are also added. I love blings now, thanks to a beloved friend, Lina. She had such a great influence on us with her love of "blings" (glitter, crystals and anything that shine).

"You Make My Heart Sing" b

Another view. I love mulberry flowers and added them at the lid and the side of the piano. Love the flowing effect that the flowers gave. I added the pom pom trim too.

"You Make My Heart Sing" c

From this view, you can see that I placed the tag inside the lid. I also put some fake flower petals inside. I can place the surprise gift inside too. I also added some flowers at the edge of the lid, to create the support for the lid to open up for a bit.

Well, I hope you enjoy my project.Chinese New Year is coming soon, in 2 weeks' time. Here I wish all Chinese an early "Happy New Year"!! God bless you all.

Do join in this fun challenge at Frosted Designs. I will be sharing more about my project for My Little Shoebox for Jan 2013 in the next few day. Do keep a lookout.

Have fun creating. Thanks for dropping by.

Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday Challenge - Bucket List

Hi, everyone. This week at Frosted Designs we have a Bucket List Challenge. You are to include one thing or many things on your bucket list in your projects. Some of you may ask, what's a bucket list? According to dictionary, a bucket list is a list of things that you want to do before you die, comes from the term "kicked the bucket".

And here's what I had created:

"My Bucket List" Art Journal Page

I decided to create a art journal page. Used colour pencils to depict each thing that I want to do/achieve in my life. We can draw and colour our own life, what we want out of it. And I want my life to be colourful.

I used Neocolor II watercolor crayons for this page. For the front row of color pencils, I adhered patterned papers as the body.

I hope you like my project. Do join us for this challenge at Frosted Designs. And do drop by here to win my 4th Blog Candy. Have fun!!

Thanks for visiting.

On The 8th Day Of Christmas...

On the 8th Day of Christmas, my challenge at Frosted Designs' "12 Days Of Christmas Challenge" is to use 8 brands/products in your projects.

"Merry Xmas" Mini Album

This mini album was made with the following brands/products:
  • Simple Stories Patterned Papers
  • Burlap fabric and trim
  • American Crafts alpha thickers
  • Ranger (Tim Holtz) tissue paper
  • Ranger ice glitter and distress inks.
  • Charms and beads
  • Folkart white acrylic paint
  • Claudine Hellmuth multi-medium

Besides this challenge, I also made this Christmas mini album for a Christmas Album Swap organised by my dear friend, Elaine. So, Michelle, my swap partner, this album is for you. :)

I loved burlap fabric and the white Christmas theme. For the cover, I used mixed media technique. I wanted a clean, simple look.

I made a pocket on the 1st page and kept the rest of the album simple with spaces for photos. I loved layering the strips of papers to make the Christmas trees. Christmas tree is one of my favourite icon. Well, I love trees!! Its always amazing to see how God made each and every trees unique. And its such a joy to look closely at different trees.

Another pocket was added here with 2 tags. I cut out part of the circles from patterned paper to make into a banner.

I hope you enjoyed my project. Do hop over to Frosted Designs to join in the 12 Days of Christmas Challenge. There's lots of prizes to be won. And there's also a "Refer A Friend" Contest here. Have fun and a early Merry Christmas!!

Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday Challenge - Buttons

Hello there!! How's your week?? Me busy as usual but something different is, I'm busy with coping with illness!!! First my mother-in-law was hospitalised (she's discharged and under medication now), then me fell sick with food poisoning (had to go same hospital where my mother-in-law is, to be put on saline and medicine drips)and today my hubby had fever and throat infection. Well, I prayed that everyone will get well soon. :)

This week at Frosted Designs, we are challenging you to use 5 buttons or more in your projects. And this week's sponsor is Creative Cuts & More. Do drop by to have a look at their wonderful products.

As Christmas is coming, I made a wreath with jute ribbon and buttons. But Christmas in Singapore is not white Christmas but a warm one. So I also made a simple card with a pale shade of spring colours. I love pastel colours.

I made the trim flower cluster with the flower trim, self-cut burlap leaves, feather and self-made pearl bead vines. Its such a simple touch to the wreath. I layered the buttons to give them dimension and interest.

For the card, I watercolored the wreath with a mixture of water and Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pens. Its easy to color images without much coloring skill with this method. Again I layered the buttons to make the card look less flat.

I hope you like my projects. Do join us at Frosted Designs for this week's challenge and stand to win a mini album kit.

Thanks for dropping by.

Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday Challenge - Color Challenge

Hi, everyone. This week at Frosted Designs, we are inviting you to join us for a color challenge. You can use this picture or color scheme for your projects.

And here's what I created:

"Live A Life Inspired" PDF Wood Board

I altered a PDF Wood Board from Daiso. Covered it with Tim Holtz tissue paper, added acrylic paints to it. Then I mixed fiber paste, glass bead gel and acrylic paint and spread over the Prima Donna Downey's peonies stencil. I used Liquitex and Daler Rowney acrylic inks for the "drips" and dabbed some white acrylic paints randomly over the board with my fingers.

For the peonies, I actually used pink acrylic paint for the fiber paste mixture. But I painted over them with red acrylic paint after the fiber paste mixture dried. Hence you might catch some pink under the red. I loved this kind of "layering". It made the peonies look more varied and alive.

I loved this lace. Bought it from a wedding accessory shop in Johore Bahru, Malaysia. Loved the transparency of this lace. You can still see the details below over the lace. (hmmm... am I making sense in my explanations??). The phrases are stamped with Unity/Donna Downey stamp and cut out and adhered with gel medium. Then dabbed over with acrylic paints and circled with black Daler Rowney acrylic ink.

Another view from the side. Loved the texture of this board.

I hope you are inspired by my project. Do join in the challenge over at Frosted Designs. Have a fun week. And do keep a lookout for Frosted Designs 12 Days Of Christmas Challenge next month.

Oh, I still owe a 4th Blog Candy for next 20 followers. I will try to post up as soon as possible.
Thanks for visiting my blog.

Frosted Designs Fall Blog Hop

Hello, friends. Its time for Frosted Designs Fall Blog Hop. You should have come from Channa's blog. If not, you can go back to Frosted Designs Blog for the master list.

For this blog hop challenge, you are supposed to hop to every designer's blog to "collect" the 12 themes and use at least 6 out of the 12 in your submission project. My theme is PUMPKIN. And here's what I created using 6 themes.

"Vintage Pumpkin" Card

The reason I chose the theme, Pumpkin, is it reminds me of Halloween and my birthday is on Halloween. ;) So this is like a birthday card to myself.

I used Silhouette Cameo to cut out the pumpkin shapes and glued them to make a card. I also use Cameo to cut the leaves and a Magnolia die for the swirls. I hand cut the stalk and added lace to it.

I rolled the felt strips and add them to the flowers. I also added glitter to the swirls. Love the vintage look.

I inked these leaves with distress inks and layered them.

I hope you like my card. Now that you collected all the 12 themes, please go back to Frosted Designs to submit your project and win a prize. Have fun.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday Challenge - Paints/Mists/Inks

Hello to all. Thanks for dropping by. This week at Frosted Designs, we are challenging you to use paints, inks and/or mists in your projects.

For this challenge, I made these 4 by 4 inches canvases for my friends who came to my house to make flowers together.

"Friends Are Like Flowers" Canvas

I painted the canvas with acrylic paints, "drew" the tiny flowers with Faber Castell Big Brush Pen(Indian Ink) and Tim Holtz White Distress Marker.

Then I adhered the handmade flowers. These flowers are made during a "flower-making" session with my friends at my house. I really appreciate their friendship and decided to make these canvas for them. All the flowers are punched out, colored and layered from scratch. Love them!!!

I hope you love the project. Do hop over to Frosted Designs to join in the fun and win a prize. And keep a lookout for the November Blog Hop at Frosted Designs on 9, 10, 11 Nov. See you!!

Thanks for visiting.

Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday Challenge - Wild

Hello, everyone. How have you been?? My schedule has been quite hectic of late with my hubby recent business trip to UK and long working hours, hence a very busy mummy rushing here and there. At some days, I only managed to spend an hour at home before I'm out of the house again. Well, not to bore you all down. Here's the fun part:

This week at Frosted Designs, we welcome you to join us in the "Wild" challenge. Woo.... Wild!!! That's such a interesting theme. I did struggle a bit with it. And finally I decided to do this cutesy wild card.

This is such a easy card and I completed it within 5 mins. I just got this stripes paper from my dear friend, Karen and the panda and sentiment chipboard stickers from another dear friend, Elaine some time back. These really come in handy in this challenge. I mat the stripe paper with a dark brown cardstock to make it look like polaroid picture.

This card also comes at a good timing. My country, Singapore just welcome 2 panda cubs, Jia Jia and Kai Kai from China. So look forward to seeing them at Singapore Zoological Gardens by end of this year!!

Now its your turn to join in the fun!! Do hop over to Frosted Designs to join us in the challenge. Have fun!!

Thanks for visiting.

Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday Challenge - Embossing

Aloha!!!!! Hi, friends!!! Today at Frosted Designs, we challenge you to incorporate embossing in your projects. All kinds of embossing are welcome, be it dry embossing, heat embossing, "DIY" embossing, pre-embossed products etc.

"Vintage Doily" Card

I made a card for this challenge. I used My Little Shoebox latest doily stamp. I love it!!! So pretty and girly, just what I like. With a vintage color palette in the background, I can turn it to a vintage sweet look.

I embossed the doily with white embossing powder. Then inked the cardstock with distress inks, sprinkled water for the water distressed look. Love it to bits!!!! I matched the embossed cardstock with My Little Shoebox's Vintage Shop papers. They are perfect match with the vintage color palette.

Made this in mind for a dear friend too!! Hope she like it!!!

Do join in this challenge at Frosted Designs. Have a fun week!!

Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday Challenge - Journal Cards

Hi, everyone. This week at Frosted Designs, we are challenging you to use Journal Cards for your projects. You must use one or more journal cards in your cards, layouts, altered arts, off the page projects etc.

*Note: If you are dropping by for My Little Shoebox & Unity Stamp Co Blog Hop, please scroll down to the previous post. Have fun hopping.*

For this challenge, I made a mini album out of the journalling cards to document my recent family picnic.

"Botanic Garden" Mini Album

I adhered 3 sides of the journalling cards to make a pocket for tags. The tags serve as more journalling spots and for more photos. Also added file tabs to the opening of the pockets. I love the Studio Calico wood veneers!!!

Don't you just love the camera wood veneer by Studio Calico??  I doodle the side of the photos to frame them.

The journalling cards are just the perfect size for just photos and journalling. You do not need to add a lot of  embellishments to jazz them up.

I added tiny polymer clay shapes to this page. Love the polymer clay fruits!!! My friend helped me to get these polymer clay candies that you can cut to your desired size.

More polymer clay shapes here. Love the strawberries!!

My brother and "soon to be" future sister-in-law!! (Brother, can you sense the "hinting"?? ha ha)

I love this photo!! My youngest brother, Austin came up with the funniest scene!!! "Illegal hawkers" in Botanic Garden!!!! He prepared the "props", the sunglasses, the fan and the towel!!! So cute!!

My lovely sister who brought the 3 fans to the picnic!!! Hence the "Fan Queen"!!! Wa ha ha ha...

Another funny photo of my brother, nephew and my daughter (in the background). Seems like the "boys" in my family have the "funny and mischievous" traits!!!

An example of the tags inside the pockets. I used the "Smash" tape for this and also doodle the frames.

I hope you are inspired by this project. Do hop over to Frosted Designs to join in the challenge. And also scroll down to my previous post to join in My Little Shoebox and Unity Stamp Co Blog Hop. Have a fun weekend.

Thanks for dropping by.

Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday Challenge - Office Supplies

Hi, everyone. How's your week again?? I know I ask this question every time. Ha ha.. Oh, by the way, want to mention something. Thank you all for visiting my blog and leaving beautiful comments. Sorry that I'm unable to reply each and every one even though I wanted to do so. Too busy with being a wife, mum, daughter, crafter, blogger (hmmm... me consider as this??), "designer", teacher (to my kids) and maid (to my kids too, ha ha). Plus had quite a trying month. Very stressed out and overworked this month. Wanted to have a good rest next month. :)

Ok. Enough rambling about me. This week at Frosted Designs, we are challenging you to use office or school supplies in your projects. And I made a "Junk Journal"!!! It's my first "Junk Journal" and I love it!!! Thanks to my scrappy friend, Daolin who organised a junk journal swap and introduce this new addiction to us!!!

I made this "Junk Journal" with recycled, used envelope (that was sent to me,hence got my name there) as the cover of the album. Inside are paper scraps, product packagings, old notecards that I bought many years ago (Egypt themed). Made "pockets" for "junk tags" too!!! For the office/school supplies, I used paper clips of different sizes and designs, staplers, book rings.

I loved, loved the front cover. I cut a cardboard envelope into half as front and back covers. They double as pockets for more junk tags. The denim (belt area) was cut out from my old jeans that I can't fit in anymore (yap, I've put on weight!!!!). It looks gorgeous (to me) and also doubles as a holder to clip my pen (just like a smash journal). Woo hooo!!!! No more missing pen whenever I want to journal!! I made the flower using corrugated board(another "junk"). The burlap is leftover from previous projects.

I loved this second page too!!! Made a pocket for more journalling tags. I recycled the Prima packaging to make into tags. They are so lovely!!! The Webster's Page (small piece with some words) scrap is just perfect as it says "its a beautiful life" (only know how to read the bottom part, ha ha).

Here you can see the Egypt themed notecards!!! I'm abit crazy over Egypt since secondary school times and still is till now!!! I want to go Egypt one day to travel around this mysterious, gorgeous land!!! So I got a craze of collecting Egypt related stuff!!! These notecards open up to more space for journalling!!!

More Prima product packaging!!! I loved them as they are too pretty and it's such a waste to throw them away!! Now I found a better use for them: as mini clipboard. Here I clip a small transparent tag with  a teal paper clips. The denim piece from my jeans is also used to tie the tag!!

I made a translucent pocket with this recycled glassine gift bag for bigger tags.

In this picture, I used pages torn out from second hand novel (that I used as my art journal) as the background page for more journalling or photos (??). More Prima product packaging here too.

For this last page, I also made pocket from paper scraps and Prima product packaging tags again. I used paper clips to prevent the tags in the envelope "pocket" from falling out.

For this back cover, I used the label cut out from my jeans (same one) as the "label" of my journal!!! Love the old, tattered, worn out look of it. It added a softer and vintage look to this "Junk Journal". Loved, loved my journal!!!!

I hope you feel excited to make your own "Junk Journal" after seeing mine!!! So, go try it out. It's very addictive and satisfying (especially when you are using up your scraps)!! And do join in our challenge at Frosted Designs. Thank you for your time in reading this long post!!!

Have fun creating!!!

Fabulous Friday Challenge - Twines/Ribbons

Hello, my friends!! Its time for Fabulous Friday at Frosted Designs again. This week, we are inviting you to use twines/ribbons for your projects. Its so fun to challenge myself to use twines in different ways.

Here's what I do for this challenge:
"Be Present" mixed media canvas

For this small canvas (4 by 4 inches), I used Prima paper for the background and texture paste with acrylic paint over Prima's latest mask. Then I added some rub-ons and stamped images and some acrylic paints.

In my project, I used twines from Timeless Twines to crochet a rose. Thanks so much to my friend, Karen who taught me how to crochet. And also in getting this delicious twine. I also used twines from The Twinery to twine them around the canvas. Love all these yummy twines!!!

Well, I hope you love my project. Do hop over to Frosted Designs to join in the challenge and see what our design team has come up with. Thanks for visiting. Have a fun weekend.

Fabulous Friday Challenge - Color Challenge

Hello, friends!!! Its Fabulous Friday again!! This week, Frosted Designs are having a colour challenge.

We challenge you to use the above colours for your projects. And here's what I have created:

"Lovely, Beautiful, Darling" Layout

I used Prima and My Mind's Eye papers. Love the prints on the Prima paper. I cut out the hexagons from My Mind's Eye paper and popped them up using chipboard to create a little dimension. Then I mixed fiber paste and glass bead gel to make the hexagons too. Love to use different mediums!!!! I also sprayed some glimmer mists. Not sure if you notice, the photo mat is also a pocket for the 2 handmade tags.

Love to incorporate the doily pattern behind the hexagon for the journalling.

Here you can see the texture of the fiber paste and glass bead gel mixture.

After removing the tags from the pocket, you can see the masked/misted hexagon background. Love this colour combo. Hope you all didn't get sick of seeing the almost same colour combo that I always use. ha ha...

I scrap lifted this tag design from Pink Paislee ones. Again, I paste down the hexagon cut-outs to chipboard to add dimension. And I super love this new butterfly stamp that I got from my dear friend. Its so pretty!!!! I added washi tapes too. Washi tape is the latest craze!!!

I hope you enjoy my project!! Now time for you to have fun!!! Submit your project to Frosted Designs now!!! This week's sponsor is Easy Canvas Prints. Do head on over to their website to see the amazing photo canvas that they created. You can also visit Easy Canvas Prints' facebook to view some examples of their works.

Well,I do hope you join in the fun with us. Thanks for visiting my blog. Have fun!!
